knowledge gained , questionnaire & results anualsis
what I have learnt from my research is that its good to have a close to middle shot as your front cover image and always have a colour schemed linked throw out the magazine. Have different things going on lke gossip, news and some thing to do with a famous celebraty.
Questionnaire
1.
What style of music do you like?
2.
Does your style of music affect the clothes
you wear?
3.
Does it play apart in what friend group
you’re in?
4.
Do you read music magazines?
5.
How
often would you like new music magazines to be released?
6.
How
much would you be prospered to pay for a music magazine?
7.
Do you always buy the same brand of magazine?
8.
Are you more likely to pick up a magazine
when there’s a well-known artist on the front?
9.
What
in stressed you in a music magazine?
10.
Do you like it just to be about music or do
you like abit of fashion and gossip about celebrity’s life’s?
Results
From the
results I found from my questionnaire, I found out that the most popular styles
of music are R&B and Pop and these genre of music does effect peoples dress
sense and social groups. Most people don’t really want to pay a lot for a music
magazine ,the prices ranged from 70pence
to £2. 50 and most of the people I asked to do my questionnaire said
they were more likely to get a music
magazine if a well-known artist is one
the front cover .They would also like a music magazine to
be released every two weeks. The people i gave the questioninaire was 16/17 and this would be my target audience as iv got my information i need from this age group
This information found,
has helped me decide what way I’m going to do for my own music magazine, what
genre to do and how to go about getting my target audiences. How to do my price
range and not to make it all just about music but to make sue it has a little bit of gossip E.G
interviews, fashion, music downloads charts.
The image has to have some kind of
twisted in to either pop or R&B i and using some kind of clothing
that’s associated with the genre.
music double page spreads
The double page shown here is simple; the main
image is speed across to pages, there is also a header of pictures of Rihanna
which would be very attractive to the target audience, as it shows a range of
hair styles she has had.
The colour
scheme is red, black and cream, the cream back ground suits the image as it
makes everything stand out and applying to the eye and gives it a fresh feel it
also gives it a more Indy look than pop because pop tends to use brighter
colours, while this takes the colour lead from her hair and the style/mood from
her flower garland.
The master
head ‘ Rihanna exclusive interview’ is in red and black writing , the letters
are not in bold they’re different to most master heads as they’ve got gaps
inbetwen them that fit in with the background.
This also gives a lighter, stylised and more feminine feel to the page.
The text is small and black, not very easy to
see therefore making it for a more serious musical audience as people just
looking for would be more gossip would be more interested in shorter, more
sensational stories.
The master
head is hard to work out the “got the love” part of the leader is taken from
the lyrics of her recent song. because some people would call it a background
but I think its abit of both, ‘USA’ with the image in front of the master head
it gives it a clear coniferdent message to the audience that the publisher is
not scared of taking risks. It also reflects the strong personal of Florence
welch.
The colour
scheme is grey and black and some red this gives it a more of a Bold background
as the focal point becomes is her hair and the flag.
The image is
Florence Welch in a dominant and attractive doing a sexy pose in a short black
outfit with black high heels on sitting on an American flag; this gives it a
meaning to the master head of the USA suggesting that as she is a British act tring
to ‘break’ the American music masket. The image is just over a page big, making
it to focal point of the double page spread and making Florence welch the clear
focus of the article
The text
is yet again small and black and is on the right hand side therefore
making it in ‘Q’ Magazine is not aimed at a younger target audience. The text
is also in Columns so it look more
formal.
music contents pages
The colour
scheme is basically grey scale ( black ,grey, silver and white) Beyoncé is a
well-known fashion icon by her wearing a grey dress and silvery grey shoes in
makes the contents page look more stylistic.
The image is
of Beyoncé on her back in a nice stylist outfit with her legs up in the air ,
as her image covers most of the content cover people get a sense of that she’s
going to have some involvement in the magazine, bye using I high end celebrity
like Beyoncé it gives the magazine I high end look and also by the
photography used to make her look this
way she’s doesn’t look cheap .
The text is
medium sized , the features and fashion are in different front to make them
stand out so people have an idea of what the writing is underneath it’s also
black so it tights in well with the colour scheme.
The master
head ‘contents’ is broken up and is a different way of doing it as it makes you
look at it to see what it says and it’s in big bold writing and makes in stand
out from the back ground plus tights in with the colour scheme
The colour
scheme is effective as its not to bright and not to dull , just right as you
don’t want it to be better than the front cover. The main colours are black and
white but have a tiny hint of colour with the red love heart that’s placed on
his chest , This little bit of colour is eye catching and makes this page more animated as
it adds to the simple, masculine colour scheme.
The font
varies in size and style this makes the contents page more engaging. The 'feature' banners and fashion stand out the most because of the different
font, this hasthe effect of letting you know what the small writing underneath is going
to be about so it’s a quite way of info basically making the SELLINES more
appealing to the eye.
The image,
that image covers most of the page has Kayne West standing there looking mean
while a woman’s arms is wrapped round his chest holding his heart, the reason Vibe uses
a plain background is so their artists are the focal point of the page a
This will alsi attract the reader’s attention as the news stand by having a high end celebrity on
the cover, which makes the magazine look high end and attracts a specific target audience.
The master
head yet again in this ‘content’ page is broken up and in big bold black writing , it’s a
different way of catching people's eyes and I think it a very clever but simple
way of getting the audience's attention.
